Margarita Island is located on the north east Caribbean coast of Venezuela and is one of three islands comprising the state of Neuva Esparta discovered by Christopher Columbus.
The islands cover 1,150 square kilometres; Margarita is the largest and most developed. The highest point on the island is 1,000 metres above sea level and offers spectacular views of the surrounding island, coast and Caribbean waters.
